A recent report indicates that just nine percent of voters removed from Karnataka’s electoral roll have applied to be restored.

A government‑issued report on Karnataka’s electoral roll shows that only 9% of the voters whose names were deleted have filed applications to be reinstated. The data, released by the State Election Commission, reflects a low response rate among those affected by the cleanup of the voter list.

The deletion exercise, carried out to remove duplicate, deceased or ineligible entries, aimed to improve the accuracy of the roll ahead of upcoming elections. However, the modest number of re‑applications suggests that many former voters may be unaware of the process or lack the means to re‑register.

Election officials have urged eligible citizens to check their status on the official portal and submit the required documents if they wish to regain voting rights before the next polling cycle.
