Odisha Seeks Public Input on Revised Textbooks After Error Controversy

The Odisha government has invited the public to review the newly revised textbooks for primary classes, spanning from Class 1 to Class 4. This initiative comes in the wake of a significant controversy that arose due to a large number of errors identified in the previous versions of these educational materials.

The School and Mass Education Department is facilitating this public review process. The move aims to ensure the accuracy and quality of the textbooks before they are finalized and distributed widely to students across the state. This step is seen as a measure to regain public trust and address the concerns raised by educators, parents, and students regarding the previous errors.

Previously, reports indicated a substantial number of mistakes, with one count suggesting as many as 1,678 errors. The department's decision to involve the public in the review process underscores its commitment to rectifying these issues and improving the learning resources for young students.
