The state government inaugurated the Surakshya training hostel in Odisha, aimed at enhancing disaster management skills among volunteers and officials.
The Surakshya training hostel was officially opened on Tuesday in Odisha, with state officials and disaster management experts in attendance. The facility is designed to provide a dedicated living and learning space for trainees involved in the state’s disaster response initiatives.
The hostel will accommodate up to 200 participants, offering accommodation, lecture halls, and simulation labs. Training modules will cover early warning systems, evacuation procedures, and first‑aid response, tailored to the diverse disaster risks faced by Odisha.
By centralizing training, the state aims to improve coordination among volunteers, police, and emergency services, ensuring a quicker, more organized response during floods, cyclones, and other calamities.
The launch marks a key step in Odisha’s broader strategy to build a resilient disaster‑management workforce across the state.
