The Odisha government has rolled out electronic challan issuance on four key highway stretches, aiming to curb traffic violations and improve road safety.

Odisha’s Transport Department announced the launch of e‑challan enforcement on four major highway stretches effective today. The initiative will use automated cameras and digital systems to detect and issue penalties for traffic violations such as speeding, illegal parking and lane violations.

Officials said the move is part of a broader strategy to improve road safety and reduce congestion on the state’s busiest corridors. The e‑challan system will allow motorists to receive fines electronically and pay them online, reducing the need for manual ticketing.

The government expects the new system to deter repeat offenders and streamline the enforcement process. It also plans to monitor the impact on traffic flow and accident rates over the coming months.
