The state government has issued a flood alert for Odisha following continuous heavy rainfall, urging residents in vulnerable districts to stay vigilant.
The Odisha government announced a flood alert on Monday after several days of intense monsoon showers that have raised water levels in rivers and reservoirs across the state. Meteorological officials warned that the continued downpour could cause overflow in low‑lying areas, especially in the coastal districts and river basins.
Authorities have placed the district disaster management teams on standby and are monitoring river gauges in Cuttack, Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Puri. Relief camps are being prepared, and additional police and health personnel are being deployed to assist any evacuation if needed.
Residents in the identified risk zones have been advised to keep emergency kits ready, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow instructions from local officials. The state disaster response force will issue real‑time updates through radio, television and digital platforms as the situation evolves.
