The Odisha government has created a Chief Minister‑level Economic Advisory Council, modeled on the Prime Minister’s EAC, to steer the state toward the national $1.5 trillion economic ambition.
Odisha announced the establishment of a Chief Minister’s Economic Advisory Council (CM‑EAC) that will operate on the same framework as the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council (EAC‑PM). The move is aimed at aligning the state’s policy agenda with India’s broader target of reaching a $1.5 trillion economy.
The CM‑EAC will bring together economists, industry leaders and senior bureaucrats to advise the state government on growth‑driving reforms, investment promotion and sector‑specific strategies. Its mandate includes monitoring progress against key economic indicators and recommending corrective actions where needed.
By mirroring the central government’s advisory mechanism, Odisha hopes to benefit from coordinated planning, data‑driven decision‑making and a clearer roadmap for attracting domestic and foreign capital. Officials said the council will meet regularly to review implementation of flagship projects and to ensure that the state contributes effectively to the national growth goal.
