The Odisha government has moved the cut‑off for farmers to enrol in the state’s paddy procurement scheme to September 7, giving them extra time to register.
The state administration announced on Monday that the deadline for farmers to register under the upcoming paddy procurement programme has been extended to September 7. The decision comes after several farmer groups requested more time to complete the paperwork before the procurement season begins.
Under the scheme, eligible cultivators can sell their milled paddy to the state‑run procurement agencies at a minimum support price fixed by the government. Registration is carried out online through the official portal, where farmers must upload land records, crop details and bank information.
Officials said the extension aims to ensure broader participation, especially from marginal and small‑holder farmers who often face connectivity challenges in rural areas. The department will also organise additional help‑desks in district headquarters to assist with the digital enrolment process.
