The Director General of Police in Odisha convened a review meeting to assess law‑and‑order conditions, focusing on upcoming student elections and measures to improve women’s safety.

The Director General of Police (DGP) of Odisha held a high‑level review session with senior police officials to examine the current law‑and‑order scenario in the state. The meeting placed particular emphasis on the forthcoming student elections, where authorities aim to ensure a peaceful voting process across colleges and universities.

Officials discussed deployment strategies, including the positioning of additional personnel at campuses and nearby polling stations. Coordination with the state education department was also highlighted to monitor any potential disturbances and to facilitate swift response mechanisms.

A separate agenda item addressed women’s safety, with the DGP urging intensified patrolling, faster complaint redressal and awareness campaigns in urban and rural areas. The review concluded with directives to strengthen surveillance, improve emergency response times and to regularly update the public on safety initiatives.

The DGP assured that the police force remains committed to maintaining order during the election period while simultaneously enhancing protection for women throughout Odisha.
