Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the Sambandh programme, a large‑scale membership drive aimed at enrolling farmers across Odisha.
Bhubaneswar, Sept 25 — Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik officially launched the Sambandh mega membership drive today, targeting the state’s farming community. The scheme is designed to bring millions of cultivators under a single platform that offers access to government schemes, market information, and financial services.
During the inauguration, Patnaik highlighted that Sambandh will create a unified database of farmers, enabling more efficient delivery of subsidies, crop insurance and credit facilities. The drive will initially focus on the 10 districts with the highest agricultural output before expanding statewide.
State officials said enrollment will be free and can be completed through local panchayat offices, agricultural extension centers, and a dedicated mobile app. The government aims to register at least five million farmers within the first year, hoping the consolidated data will improve policy planning and reduce leakages.
The launch coincides with the upcoming Kharif season, and the administration expects the initiative to boost productivity by facilitating timely inputs and market linkages for small and marginal farmers.
