Nursing students in Gwalior clash with authorities as a protester's health deteriorates

After six days of protest over exam schedules, results and college recognition, nursing students in Gwalior turned violent when a participant fell ill and ambulance response was delayed.
Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh – Nursing students have been staging a sit-in at the district collectorate for six days, demanding clarity on examination dates, result declaration and the accreditation of their colleges. The protest, organized by several nursing colleges, has drawn attention from local authorities but little concrete response so far.
Tensions escalated on Saturday when a female student reportedly experienced a sudden health crisis. According to eyewitnesses, the ambulance that was called to the collectorate arrived after a significant delay, prompting the crowd to shout slogans and break the peaceful nature of the sit-in.
The students accused the administration of neglect and demanded immediate medical assistance, as well as a meeting with senior officials to address their grievances. Police personnel were deployed to contain the unrest, but no arrests were reported.
The protest remains ongoing, with the students insisting that their demands be met before they consider ending the demonstration. Authorities have said they are reviewing the issues raised and will convene a meeting with student representatives shortly.
