The National Trade and Business Wing (NTWB) has proposed creating a unified loan platform and revamping CIBIL credit scoring to improve financing for micro, small and medium enterprises.
The National Trade and Business Wing (NTWB) submitted a proposal aimed at strengthening credit access for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The plan calls for a single, government‑run portal that would aggregate loan offers from banks and financial institutions, allowing MSMEs to compare terms and apply through a common interface.
In addition to the portal, NTWB seeks reforms to the Credit Information Bureau (India) Limited (CIBIL) framework. The suggested changes include simplifying credit scoring criteria for smaller firms and ensuring faster updates of repayment histories, which NTWB believes will reduce the information gap that often hampers MSME borrowing.
If implemented, the measures are expected to streamline the loan application process, cut down processing times and lower the cost of credit for the sector. NTWB has indicated that the proposal will be discussed with the Ministry of Finance and relevant regulatory bodies in the coming weeks.
Stakeholders, including industry associations and financial institutions, have been invited to provide feedback on the draft before it moves to the policy‑making stage.
