The Northern Army Commander paid a visit to the troops stationed on the Siachen Glacier, reviewing their conditions and operational readiness.
The senior officer of the Indian Army’s northern command arrived at the Siachen Glacier this week to meet the soldiers deployed in the world’s highest battlefield. Accompanied by senior staff, he toured the forward posts, observed the living quarters and inspected the equipment used for high‑altitude warfare.
During the visit, the commander emphasized the strategic importance of maintaining a robust presence on the glacier and urged troops to stay vigilant despite the extreme weather. He also took the opportunity to listen to on‑ground reports concerning supply chain challenges and medical facilities.
Soldiers, who have been operating at altitudes above 6,000 metres, expressed appreciation for the personal interaction, noting that such visits boost morale in an environment marked by sub‑zero temperatures and limited daylight. The commander assured that the army will continue to prioritize logistical support and welfare measures for the personnel.
The inspection concludes a series of routine high‑altitude reviews aimed at ensuring combat readiness and addressing the unique hardships faced by the Siachen contingent.
