NMDC reported an 18% rise in iron ore output for October, but its sales fell by 12% in the same period, according to CNBC TV18.

Mumbai‑based NMDC Ltd said its iron ore extraction for October increased by 18% compared with the same month last year, reflecting higher mining activity at its core assets. The company attributed the surge to improved operational efficiency and favorable weather conditions that allowed uninterrupted extraction.

Despite the higher output, NMDC’s iron ore sales slipped by 12% in October. Analysts note that the decline may stem from delayed shipments, tighter logistics, or reduced demand from key steel producers.

The contrasting figures highlight a divergence between production capacity and market absorption, a trend the firm will monitor as it plans its quarterly outlook.

NMDC’s management has indicated that it will focus on stabilising sales volumes while maintaining the momentum in production, aiming to align output with domestic and export demand.

The data, sourced from CNBC TV18, underscores the challenges Indian mining companies face in balancing output growth with market dynamics.
