Nine New Ayurvedic Colleges to Open in Madhya Pradesh with ₹184 Crore Investment

On National Ayurveda Day, Madhya Pradesh announced the launch of nine Ayurvedic colleges funded by projects worth over ₹184 crore, with the first college inaugurated in Dindori and a public herbal garden opened in Bhopal.
The Madhya Pradesh government used National Ayurveda Day to unveil a major expansion of Ayurvedic education in the state. More than ₹184 crore has been allocated to 25 projects, including the establishment of nine new Ayurvedic colleges across the region. The first of these institutions, the Ayurvedic Mahavidyalaya in Dindori, was formally inaugurated today, marking a significant step toward increasing professional training in traditional medicine.
The funding package also includes the development of a public herbal garden in Bhopal, which will be accessible to citizens and serve as a living repository of medicinal plants. Officials said the garden aims to promote awareness of herbal remedies and support research collaborations with the new colleges.
State authorities expect the new colleges to admit students from the upcoming academic session, offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Ayurveda. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the state's health infrastructure and preserve indigenous knowledge systems.
Local leaders praised the move as a boost for both education and public health, emphasizing that the increased capacity will help meet the growing demand for qualified Ayurvedic practitioners nationwide.
