A Metropolitan Region Development Authority crane fell onto an overhead electric line and nearby houses in Kurla, Mumbai, leaving nine people injured.

A crane operated by the Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) collapsed onto an overhead electric wire that supplies power to local trains, as well as onto residential homes in the Kurla area of Mumbai. The incident occurred during daylight hours and caused immediate disruption to the railway's power supply.

Emergency services, including fire‑rescue teams and paramedics, arrived at the scene within minutes. They evacuated residents from the affected houses, provided first‑aid, and transported nine injured individuals to nearby hospitals for treatment of injuries ranging from minor cuts to fractures.

Local authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crane's failure and to assess any lapses in safety protocols. The MMRDA has pledged full cooperation with the probe and has temporarily halted similar crane operations in the vicinity until safety checks are completed.

Rail services on the affected line were suspended for several hours but resumed after power was restored and safety inspections were carried out. Residents were advised to avoid the area while cleanup and repair work continued.
