The National Investigation Agency conducted coordinated searches at eight locations across three Indian states, seizing a cache of Bangladeshi currency linked to a fake‑currency racket.

New Delhi – The National Investigation Agency (NIA) launched a multi‑state operation today, targeting eight premises spread across three states as part of a probe into a large‑scale counterfeit currency network. Teams from the central agency, supported by local police, executed search warrants and recovered a substantial amount of Bangladeshi banknotes suspected of being used in the production and circulation of fake Indian currency.

According to a statement released by the NIA, the seized notes are being examined for authenticity and for any links to organized crime groups operating across the India‑Bangladesh border. The agency said the operation is part of an ongoing investigation that began earlier this year after intelligence inputs indicated a cross‑border counterfeit ring.

While the raids did not result in any immediate arrests, officials confirmed that forensic analysis of the recovered currency and further interrogations of suspects are underway. The NIA has urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious currency notes to the nearest police station.

The coordinated sweep underscores the central government's focus on curbing illegal currency flows that threaten the integrity of the nation’s monetary system.
