The National Investigation Agency has detained Harwinder Kumar, a fugitive deported from the UAE, for allegedly providing funds and logistics for the murder of a VHP leader.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Harwinder Kumar in Delhi on Tuesday, following a probe into the murder of a VHP leader. Kumar, who had previously been deported from the United Arab Emirates, is accused of supplying financial resources and logistical support for the crime.
The arrest came after a joint investigation by the NIA and local police, which uncovered evidence linking Kumar to the planning and execution of the killing. Authorities say he was part of a network that facilitated the procurement of weapons and transportation.
Kumar’s detention is a significant development in the case, which has drawn attention to the role of external funding in domestic political violence. The NIA has not released details of the charges or the evidence, but the agency has confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
The VHP has condemned the murder and called for a thorough probe. The incident underscores the growing concern over politically motivated violence in India.
Law enforcement officials have urged the public to cooperate with the investigation and have warned that further arrests may follow as the probe continues.
