The National Human Rights Commission has directed an inquiry into allegations that a Sikh youth was subjected to custodial torture in Punjab, demanding a detailed report within two weeks.
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has ordered a formal investigation into allegations that a Sikh youth was subjected to custodial torture while in police custody in Punjab.
The commission has directed the concerned authorities to submit a comprehensive report on the incident within a period of two weeks. The inquiry will examine the circumstances surrounding the alleged abuse and assess whether the rights of the individual were violated.
This directive follows growing concerns over custodial violence in the state, prompting the NHRC to take a closer look at the case and ensure accountability. The commission will monitor the investigation and may recommend remedial measures based on its findings.
