The National Highway Authority of India has launched a cash incentive of ₹1,000 for travelers who report unclean restroom facilities at toll plazas across the country.

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) announced a new cleanliness drive targeting toll plaza restrooms. Under the scheme, any traveler who discovers a dirty toilet at a toll plaza and reports it to the authority will receive a cash reward of ₹1,000.

The initiative aims to improve hygiene standards at toll facilities, which see heavy footfall from commuters on national highways. By involving the public, NHAI hopes to create a deterrent against neglect and encourage regular maintenance by plaza operators.

Travelers can submit their reports through the NHAI’s dedicated portal or helpline, providing details such as location, time, and photographic evidence. The reward will be disbursed after verification of the complaint.

NHAI officials said the program is part of a broader effort to enhance the overall travel experience and promote cleanliness on India’s road network.
