Indian Railways has inaugurated a new Ramnagar–Dehradun service aimed at improving connectivity between the Kumaon and Garhwal regions.
Indian Railways today launched a new train service running between Ramnagar and Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand. The inaugural run was conducted on a Saturday morning, with the train covering the 80‑kilometre stretch in approximately two hours.
The new service is expected to bridge the transportation gap between the Kumaon and Garhwal districts, facilitating easier movement for commuters, tourists and local businesses. The route passes through scenic hill stations and rural villages, offering a more convenient alternative to road travel.
Railway officials said the train will operate twice a day, with additional services during peak tourist seasons. The service is part of a broader effort to enhance connectivity across Uttarakhand’s hilly terrain.
The launch was attended by local dignitaries and railway officials who highlighted the importance of improved rail links for regional development and tourism growth.
