The New Delhi Municipal Council announced an increase in charges for waste collection services, citing rising operational costs.
The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has announced a hike in the fees it levies for waste collection across its jurisdiction. The decision, disclosed in a recent circular, comes as the council grapples with higher operational expenses and the need to maintain service quality.
NDMC officials said the revised tariff structure is intended to ensure reliable garbage removal, proper segregation and timely disposal, especially in high‑density residential and commercial zones.
The council has not disclosed the exact percentage increase, but it indicated that the new rates will be applicable shortly and will be reflected in the next billing cycle. Residents and business owners have been urged to settle the updated dues to avoid service disruptions.
A spokesperson for NDMC emphasized that the fee adjustment aligns with broader efforts to modernise solid‑waste management and meet environmental standards set by the municipal authority.
