The New Delhi Municipal Council confirmed that Central Park in Connaught Place will remain closed on 16 and 17 October.
New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) issued a notice that Central Park, located in the heart of Connaught Place, will be inaccessible to the public on 16 and 17 October. The decision was taken as a precautionary measure following concerns about crowd management and safety ahead of the upcoming 'Lahra Do Tiranga' march. NDMC officials have advised visitors to avoid the area during these two days and have directed security personnel to enforce the closure.
The park, a popular green space for office workers and tourists, is expected to reopen on 18 October after the scheduled events conclude. Authorities have not disclosed any further details regarding the nature of the anticipated risk, but the closure aligns with standard protocols for large public gatherings in the capital.
Commuters and residents have been urged to use alternate routes and nearby parks for recreation during the brief shutdown. NDMC will monitor the situation closely and may issue additional updates if circumstances change.
