The National Commission for Women launched the ‘Yashoda AI’ programme in Punjab, aiming to enhance digital literacy and employment opportunities for women.
New Delhi – The National Commission for Women (NCW) officially introduced the Yashoda AI initiative in Punjab, marking a focused effort to improve digital competencies among women in the state.
Yashoda AI is an artificial‑intelligence‑driven platform that will provide free online courses, skill‑building modules, and mentorship to women seeking to enter the digital economy. The programme is designed to be accessible via smartphones and low‑bandwidth connections, targeting both urban and rural participants.
NCW officials said the launch aligns with the central government's broader digital inclusion agenda and is expected to create thousands of job‑ready women in sectors such as e‑commerce, data entry, and digital marketing over the next two years.
The rollout will begin with pilot training centres in major districts of Punjab, followed by a statewide expansion. Interested women can register through the NCW website or at designated community centres.
Stakeholders anticipate that Yashoda AI will not only boost individual livelihoods but also contribute to the state's overall economic growth by tapping into an under‑utilised talent pool.
