The National Commission for Women held a conclave in Delhi, prompting leaders in Kerala to accuse the centre of forcing Hindi at the event.
The National Commission for Women (NCW) convened a conclave in Delhi, bringing together officials and stakeholders to discuss women‑related issues at a national level.
The meeting quickly became a flashpoint in Kerala, where political leaders and language activists voiced strong objections, alleging that the central government was using the forum to impose Hindi.
Kerala representatives warned that such a move undermines linguistic diversity and could polarise public discourse, calling for respect for regional languages in all national platforms.
The NCW has not issued a formal response to the criticism, and the debate continues over language policy in government‑organized events.
