The Ministry of Home Affairs reports a significant decline in Left-wing extremism, with zero affected districts as of March 2026. Maoist violence has also seen a steep decline.
In a notable achievement, the number of districts affected by Left-wing extremism has dropped to zero by March 2026. This marks a substantial reduction from 126 districts prior to April 2018. The decline in Maoist violence is also evident, with only a few incidents reported this year. Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand are the only states where Maoist incidents have been reported. Although 37 districts are still classified as legacy and thrust areas, the overall trend indicates a significant decrease in Naxalism. The Ministry of Home Affairs attributes this decline to effective counter-insurgency strategies and development initiatives. The reduction in Naxalism-affected districts is a positive development for the country's internal security.
