As Navratri approaches, temples in Mohali are witnessing larger gatherings and vendors report a rise in the cost of flowers and garlands.
Mohanlal Nagar and other major temples across Mohali have reported a noticeable surge in devotees ahead of the nine‑day Navratri celebrations. The festive atmosphere has drawn larger crowds seeking to offer prayers and participate in traditional rituals.
Local flower sellers and garland makers say that the heightened demand has pushed up prices for commonly used blossoms such as marigold, jasmine and roses. While exact figures were not disclosed, vendors noted that the cost of a standard garland is now higher than in the weeks preceding the festival.
Market observers attribute the price rise to the seasonal spike in demand, as families and community groups purchase floral offerings for puja and cultural programs. Authorities have not reported any supply shortages, but the trend underscores the economic ripple effect of major religious observances in the region.
