Indian chemical firm Nalco has signed an agreement with Emirates Global Aluminium to enlarge an aluminium smelter in Odisha.

Nalco, a leading Indian chemical and engineering services company, has entered into a partnership with Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), the United Arab Emirates' flagship aluminium producer. The agreement focuses on expanding an existing aluminium smelting facility in the state of Odisha, aiming to boost production capacity.

The collaboration is expected to strengthen Odisha's industrial base, creating new opportunities for local suppliers and generating employment in the region. Both parties anticipate that the expanded smelter will enhance the state's contribution to India's overall aluminium output.

Industry analysts view the tie‑up as a sign of growing foreign interest in India's metals sector, highlighting the strategic importance of Odisha's mineral resources and its supportive policy environment for large‑scale manufacturing projects.
