Nagaland MLA Kikon says Sepaktakraw can launch Naga youth onto global sporting stage

MLA Kikon, a member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, said Sepaktakraw—a Southeast Asian sport that blends volleyball and soccer—offers Naga youth a realistic chance to reach global competitions. He pointed to recent performances of local teams in national championships and stressed that with proper training facilities, coaching and exposure, players could qualify for the Asian Games and potentially the Olympics. The legislator called on the state government, sports authorities and private sponsors to invest in infrastructure, organise regular tournaments and provide scholarships, noting that the sport already enjoys grassroots popularity in several districts. Kikon also mentioned plans to collaborate with the Indian Sepaktakraw Federation to create a talent pipeline and to host an international event in Nagaland within the next few years.
