State health authorities have launched intensified vaccination and awareness drives in Tizit, Mon district, after confirming a measles outbreak.
Nagaland's Department of Health and Family Welfare announced on Monday that a measles outbreak has been confirmed in the town of Tizit in Mon district. The agency said several suspected cases have been reported, prompting an immediate escalation of control measures.
The response includes a door‑to‑door vaccination campaign targeting children under fifteen, the establishment of temporary immunisation centres at local schools, and the distribution of oral rehydration salts to manage complications. Health workers are also conducting house‑to‑house awareness visits to educate families about symptoms and the importance of early treatment.
State officials are coordinating with the central Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to ensure adequate vaccine supplies and to monitor the situation through daily reporting. The department urged parents to bring eligible children for immunisation and advised the public to report any new cases promptly.
