The Nagaland state administration has issued a warning prohibiting the hunting of Amur falcons, citing their protected status and the need for conservation.

The Department of Environment and Forests in Nagaland released an advisory stating that hunting, trapping or harming Amur falcons is illegal under state wildlife protection laws.
Amur falcons are migratory birds that travel from Siberia to Africa, passing through Nagaland, and their numbers have been declining due to poaching in several regions.
The advisory urges local communities, hunters and bird‑watchers to report any illegal activity and cooperate with forest officials, who will enforce penalties for violations.
Conservation groups welcomed the move, emphasizing that protecting the falcons aligns with India's commitments under the Convention on Migratory Species.
Officials said awareness campaigns will be launched ahead of the peak migration season to educate the public about the ecological importance of the species.
