The Nagaland administration has launched a review of the prolonged delays in pension and other retirement benefits, outlining possible policy changes to accelerate payments.
The state government announced that it is conducting a detailed examination of the backlog affecting pension disbursements and other retirement entitlements for former government employees.
Officials said the review will identify procedural bottlenecks, staffing shortfalls and technology gaps that have contributed to the slowdown, and will propose corrective measures within weeks.
The move follows complaints from retirees and pressure from opposition legislators, who have demanded timely payments. The department has pledged greater transparency and may introduce an online tracking portal.
If approved, the suggested reforms could include streamlined verification processes, increased budget allocation for pension funds, and a revised grievance redressal mechanism.
