Nagaland Government Calls for Tougher Measures Against Violence on Women and Children

Kohima, Nagaland – The state government announced today that it will seek stronger legislative and administrative action to address the rising incidence of violence against women and children. Officials said the move aims to tighten existing laws, improve reporting mechanisms, and ensure faster prosecution of offenders.
The department of Women and Child Development will draft a set of recommendations for the state cabinet, including the establishment of dedicated fast‑track courts and increased funding for victim support services. It also plans to launch awareness campaigns in schools and rural areas to encourage reporting and reduce stigma.
State Chief Minister emphasized that protecting women and children is a priority for the administration and called on central agencies to provide technical and financial assistance. The government will present its proposals to the state legislature in the upcoming session.
