The Naga Students’ Federation has raised concerns over substandard road conditions and prolonged delays in National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) projects throughout Nagaland.
The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) issued a formal statement highlighting serious shortcomings in the quality of roads being constructed under the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) in Nagaland. The federation said that many stretches of the newly built or upgraded highways exhibit potholes, uneven surfacing and inadequate drainage, posing safety risks for commuters.
According to NSF, the delays in project completion have also disrupted local transportation and economic activities, especially in remote districts that rely on these corridors for essential supplies. The federation urged the central and state authorities to conduct an immediate audit of the ongoing works and enforce stricter quality control measures.
NHIDCL officials have not yet responded to the federation’s allegations, but the NSF has called for a meeting with project managers to discuss remedial actions and a revised timeline to ensure that the infrastructure meets the required standards.
