The 2026 Mysuru Dasara festival displayed 50 traditional art forms and 57 illuminated tableaux, with the armed forces' march drawing significant attention.

Mysuru, Karnataka – The annual Dasara celebrations this year featured an extensive cultural showcase, presenting fifty distinct art forms ranging from classical dance to folk music. Organisers also unveiled fifty-seven illuminated tableaux that depicted historic episodes and mythological narratives associated with the festival.

A notable highlight of the week-long event was the participation of the Indian armed forces, whose marching contingent and equipment displays were positioned prominently along the main procession route. The military segment, featuring tanks, artillery and a disciplined marching band, attracted large crowds and added a patriotic dimension to the traditional festivities.

Authorities reported smooth coordination between cultural committees and defence personnel, ensuring that the parade proceeded without disruptions. The integration of military displays with cultural performances underscores Mysuru's effort to blend heritage with contemporary national pride during its flagship Dasara celebrations.

The festival, which draws visitors from across the country, is expected to boost local tourism and commerce, with hotels and vendors reporting high occupancy and sales throughout the event period.

Organisers have confirmed that the next edition will continue to expand the cultural program while maintaining the successful collaboration with defence forces that proved popular among attendees.
