Muzaffarpur district administration and traffic police have issued a new route chart to manage crowds and congestion during Durga Puja and idol immersion from October 17 to 20, with several roads closed.

Muzaffarpur district officials announced a special traffic management scheme to be in force from October 17 through October 20, coinciding with the peak days of Durga Puja celebrations and the subsequent idol immersion ceremony. The plan aims to ease the movement of devotees and reduce vehicular congestion in the city’s central areas.

The traffic police released a detailed route chart that diverts regular traffic away from the main procession routes and the immersion ghats. Key thoroughfares such as Gandhi Chowk, Bithoor Road, and parts of the Muzaffarpur‑Saharsa highway will be temporarily closed, while alternative corridors have been earmarked for private and public transport.

Commuters are advised to follow the newly posted signage, use the designated detour routes, and avoid the closed sections during the festival period. Authorities have also deployed additional traffic personnel at critical junctions to guide vehicles and ensure safety for the large gathering of worshippers.

The district administration emphasized that the temporary closures are limited to the festival dates and that normal traffic flow will resume once the immersion rituals conclude.
