Authorities in Muzaffarpur seized a stock of foreign liquor from a warehouse concealed behind a public distribution system shop and arrested two suspects, including the container’s driver.
Muzaffarpur district officials of the Food and Civil Supplies Department launched a raid on a warehouse that was operating under the cover of a government PDS shop. The operation, carried out on Thursday, uncovered a sizeable consignment of imported alcoholic beverages that had been stored illegally.
Investigators recovered several containers filled with foreign liquor, along with packaging materials that indicated the stock was intended for illicit distribution. The seized items are being held as evidence while forensic tests confirm their origin and composition.
Two individuals were taken into custody during the raid – the driver of the container and an accomplice identified as a local middleman. Police have said the case is part of a broader crackdown on illegal liquor networks that exploit public distribution outlets to mask their activities. Further inquiries are underway to trace the supply chain and any additional participants.
