Police in Muzaffarpur’s Ahiyapur area have detained Kamani Devi, suspected to be the girlfriend of 35‑year‑old tent‑house employee Upendra Passwan, whose body was discovered in a rented room.

Upendra Passwan, a 35‑year‑old worker employed at a tent‑house in Muzaffarpur, was found dead inside a rented accommodation in the Ahiyapur locality. The body was discovered by the room’s caretaker, prompting a criminal investigation by the local police.

Investigators identified Kamani Devi as a person of interest, alleging she was Passwan’s girlfriend. On the basis of preliminary evidence, the police arrested her from the village of Madwan in the Karja police jurisdiction and transferred her to custody for further questioning.

The case remains under active investigation, with authorities yet to determine whether the death was a homicide, suicide, or accidental. No formal charge sheet has been filed, and the police have appealed to the public for any additional information that could clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.
