Muzaffarpur: DRI & STF seize over ₹5 crore worth of charas, arrest two smugglers

In a joint operation near the India‑Nepal border, authorities seized charas worth more than ₹5 crore and detained two suspects who were planning to ship it to Indore.
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) teamed up with the Special Task Force (STF) of Bihar to bust a large‑scale cannabis resin trafficking network in Muzaffarpur. The operation was conducted close to the India‑Nepal border, where the contraband was intercepted before it could cross the frontier.
Officials reported that the seized quantity of charas is valued at over ₹5.14 crore, making it one of the biggest drug seizures in the state this year. The haul was originally earmarked for shipment to Indore, suggesting a wider distribution network beyond Bihar.
During the raid, two individuals identified as key facilitators of the smuggling ring were taken into custody. Both are currently being interrogated, and the investigative teams are pursuing further leads to uncover additional members of the syndicate. The authorities have indicated that legal proceedings will be initiated promptly, and the seized narcotics will be handed over to the appropriate forensic labs for analysis.
