The Muslim Personal Law Board (MPLB) convened a meeting in Bhopal to discuss its response to the government's push for a Uniform Civil Code (UCC). Senior members outlined a legal strategy aimed at protecting the existing personal laws that govern the Muslim community.
During the session, the board appealed to citizens across Madhya Pradesh to travel to Delhi and take part in the scheduled Jantar Mantar demonstration on 17 September. Organisers said a strong presence from the state would underscore regional opposition to the UCC.
The MPLB also confirmed that a dedicated legal team is being assembled to contest any legislative or judicial moves that could alter the current personal law framework. The board emphasized that its actions are rooted in safeguarding religious freedoms while adhering to constitutional provisions.
Authorities in Delhi have yet to comment on the expected turnout, but the MPLB expects a sizable gathering given the heightened national debate over the UCC.
