Around 50 districts in Madhya Pradesh saw Muslim representatives hand a memorandum to the President demanding a halt to the Uniform Civil Code, with a 21‑member delegation reaching the Bhopal collector’s office.

Muslim community leaders from roughly fifty districts across Madhya Pradesh gathered to present a formal memorandum to the President of India, urging a reconsideration of the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC). The memorandum, signed by local religious bodies and civil society groups, outlines concerns that the UCC could undermine personal law protections for Muslims.

A delegation of twenty‑one members travelled to Bhopal and submitted the document at the collector’s office, where officials recorded the submission. The group emphasized that any move toward a uniform civil law should involve extensive consultation with all affected communities.

State officials have not yet commented on the memorandum, but the submission adds to a growing chorus of opposition from religious groups nationwide. The protest reflects broader debates about the balance between legal uniformity and community‑specific personal laws in India.
