A municipal authority has announced plans to improve last‑mile connectivity for commuters disembarking from the metro, following a survey that highlighted gaps in reaching homes.

A municipal body has revealed a new initiative aimed at easing the journey of metro commuters after they exit the stations. The plan, which follows a recent survey, will introduce dedicated shuttle services and improved pedestrian pathways to bridge the gap between metro stops and residential areas.

According to the survey, a significant number of riders reported difficulty in reaching their homes due to limited public transport options and inadequate footpaths. In response, the municipality will deploy a fleet of electric minibuses that will operate on routes connecting major metro stations with nearby neighborhoods.

The project is slated to begin pilot operations in the coming months, with a full rollout expected within a year. Officials say the initiative will not only reduce travel time but also encourage greater use of the metro by making the final leg of the journey more convenient and safer.
