Mumbai University has rolled out a new Bachelor of Engineering program that includes a mandatory one‑year apprenticeship, aiming to equip engineering graduates with industry‑ready skills.
Mumbai University announced the launch of a new Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) course that integrates a one‑year apprenticeship as a core component of the curriculum. The initiative is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical industry exposure for engineering students.
The apprenticeship will be offered to selected candidates, who will spend twelve months working with partner firms across sectors such as manufacturing, IT, and infrastructure. The university has signed memoranda of understanding with several companies to provide structured on‑the‑job training, mentorship and assessment.
University officials indicated that the program aims to produce graduates who are immediately employable and can contribute to the nation’s skill‑development goals. By embedding real‑world projects and workplace standards, the course seeks to enhance the employability of engineering graduates.
The B.E. programme will commence in the upcoming academic session, with eligibility criteria aligned with existing engineering admission standards. Interested students will be required to apply through the university’s regular admission process and meet the apprenticeship selection parameters set by the partner industries.
