Mumbai Train Services to Gujarat Halted Amid Flooding After Heavy Rain

✍️ The Indian Express 🗓 23 Jul 2026, 12:48 PM 👁 4

Flooding caused by heavy rain has disrupted train services between Mumbai and Gujarat, forcing cancellations and delays.

Heavy rainfall over the past days has led to severe flooding on the railway tracks linking Mumbai with Gujarat, prompting Indian Railways to halt all services on the affected routes. The floodwater has inundated key sections of the track, making it unsafe for trains to operate.

Railway officials have temporarily suspended departures from Mumbai’s major stations, including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Bandra Terminus, and have redirected passengers to alternative routes where possible. Several trains scheduled to head toward Gujarat have been cancelled, and those already en route have been forced to stop at the nearest safe station.

Emergency teams are working to clear the water and assess the damage to the infrastructure. Passengers stranded on the platforms are being assisted by railway staff and local authorities. The situation remains fluid, and commuters are advised to check official railway updates before traveling.
