Mumbai recorded a peak temperature of 37.3°C, the highest in Maharashtra, while Solapur reached 37.2°C, according to the latest weather bulletin.
According to a weather bulletin released by the Indian Meteorological Department and reported by Mid-Day, Mumbai recorded a maximum temperature of 37.3°C, the highest reading in Maharashtra for the day. The same bulletin noted that Solapur, another major city in the state, recorded a temperature of 37.2°C, just a shade below the capital's peak.
Both cities experienced temperatures that are several degrees above the usual March averages for the region. Meteorologists attribute the rise to a persistent high-pressure system that has been dominating western India, trapping heat and limiting cloud cover.
State health officials have issued advisories urging residents to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, and seek cooler environments during peak heat hours. Schools and workplaces in the affected districts are being asked to consider flexible timings where feasible.
The elevated temperatures are expected to persist for the next few days, with forecasts indicating a gradual cooling only after the onset of the monsoon later in the month.
