Five individuals, including a Mumbai CPWD engineer, were taken into custody on allegations of accepting a bribe worth Rs 50 lakh, police said.
Mumbai police have detained five persons, among them a civil engineering officer from the city's CPWD, on suspicion of receiving a bribe of Rs 50 lakh. The arrests were made following a preliminary investigation that linked the accused to a corruption scheme involving public works contracts. Authorities have not disclosed the exact nature of the projects or the parties who allegedly offered the money.
