The Maharashtra Public Service Commission has raised the number of Group‑C vacancies from 5,707 to 16,717 and moved the preliminary exam to 24 January 2027.
The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) announced a substantial increase in the number of Group‑C posts available in its 2026 recruitment drive, raising the count from 5,707 to 16,717. This decision aims to address the growing demand for entry‑level government positions across the state.
Along with the vacancy hike, MPSC has also revised the schedule for the preliminary examination, now slated for 24 January 2027. Candidates who have already registered will be notified of the new date through official channels.
The commission emphasized that the expanded roster will cover a wide range of departments, offering opportunities in clerical, technical and support roles. Aspirants are advised to keep an eye on the MPSC website for detailed syllabus, application procedures and further updates.
MPSC officials reiterated that the recruitment process will continue to follow transparent and merit‑based criteria, with subsequent stages—including mains and interviews—planned in accordance with the revised timeline.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to prepare thoroughly for the prelims, as competition is expected to intensify given the larger pool of vacancies.
