Mumbai Port Authority is seeking feedback from shipping and logistics firms on the redevelopment of berth 9 after the central government declined to provide financial support.
Mumbai Port Authority (MPA) has announced that it will consult with shipping and logistics companies before proceeding with the redevelopment of berth 9 at the Port of Mumbai. The move comes after the central government refused to fund the project, citing budgetary constraints.
The berth, which handles a significant portion of the city’s cargo traffic, is slated for modernization to improve efficiency and capacity. MPA officials said that industry input will help shape design specifications and operational protocols that best meet commercial needs.
The authority plans to circulate a detailed proposal to key stakeholders by the end of the month and expects to finalize the redevelopment plan within the next six months. The project, if approved, could create jobs and boost trade activity in the region.
