The monsoon over Rajasthan has slowed, with rainfall 14% below average and temperatures rising, while light showers are expected in eastern districts on August 22 before the system weakens again from August 23.

The monsoon trough over Rajasthan has lost momentum, delivering only about 86% of the normal rainfall for this period. Meteorological data released on August 21 shows a noticeable dip in precipitation, accompanied by a rise in daytime temperatures across the state.

The reduced rainfall has intensified heat and humidity, prompting discomfort among residents and affecting agricultural activities that rely on timely monsoon showers. Farmers in the arid zones have expressed concern over the shortfall, which could impact sowing schedules.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a brief spell of light rain on August 22, limited to the eastern districts such as Sawai Madhopur and Dholpur. However, the agency warns that the monsoon system will weaken further from August 23, likely curtailing any significant rainfall for the remainder of the week.

Authorities have advised the public to stay hydrated, limit outdoor exposure during peak heat hours, and monitor local weather updates for any sudden changes.
