As the monsoon retreats, North India experiences widespread thunderstorms while the southern regions receive heavy rainfall.
The monsoon season is gradually receding across India, bringing a shift in rainfall patterns. In the northern states, meteorological agencies report an increase in thunderstorms, with frequent lightning strikes and heavy downpours affecting cities such as Delhi, Lucknow and Chandigarh.
Simultaneously, the southern belt, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, is witnessing intense showers. The rainfall intensity has risen to levels that can cause localized flooding in low-lying areas.
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued warnings for potential flash floods and advised residents in flood-prone districts to stay alert. Power utilities have also been cautioned about the risk of power outages due to downed lines.
Weather forecasters predict that the pattern will continue for the next few days, with the monsoon’s retreat gradually giving way to the post-monsoon dry season.
