The Indian Meteorological Department has declared a yellow alert for Delhi as the monsoon season begins, with humidity levels staying high.
Monsoon rains have started to affect Delhi, marking the official onset of the seasonal monsoon in the national capital. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the city, signalling moderate rainfall and the possibility of localized flooding. Residents have been advised to stay prepared for sudden downpours and to follow any safety instructions from local authorities.
The yellow alert reflects the IMD's assessment that weather conditions are conducive to sustained moisture and intermittent showers. While the alert does not predict severe weather, it serves as a caution for commuters and outdoor workers to monitor updates closely.
Humidity levels remain elevated, making the ambient temperature feel hotter than the actual reading. Health officials recommend staying hydrated, limiting strenuous outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and using appropriate protective measures against the damp conditions.
